In October, FiLiA's Feminist Friday will be on Saturday 31st October!
On Saturday 31st October, from 10 a.m., join Susan Dalgety, journalist, Allison Graham, comms expert and women’s rights campaigner, FiLiA and others to plan together, share knowledge and discuss practical steps towards ending the licensing of strip clubs in Glasgow.
There is a substantial body of local, national and international evidence highlighting the harms of strip clubs, and the wider sex trade, on women within these venues. We also know that women and girls who live, work, study, socialise and move through the surrounding areas are also harmed.
Earlier this year, FiLiA published important research confirming women's experiences of living near strip clubs in Edinburgh, Cardiff and Manchester. The report, Life near Strip Clubs: Women's Voices from UK Cities, found that many women reported feeling less safe, less welcome and less able to participate fully in public life when these venues were present in their communities.
FiLiA wants to ensure that women’s views on strip clubs are heard by the policy makers and politicians responsible for their continued existence. We want to support women to close these venues of licensed exploitation down.
Lunch will be provided and the venue is fully accessible with lifts and toilets designed for wheelchair users.
Join the FiLiA Women’s Assembly for more events like this and more!
