The Equality Act has been getting a bad rap in some quarters, with talk of repealing it and all the protections it provides to women.

On Thursday 22nd October, at 6.30 p.m., join Professor Mary Davis and Audrey Ludwig MBE as they discuss the Equality Act, its importance to women's rights, both up to now and in the future, and why - even though it's not perfect - we must be proactive in using it, defending it and extending it.

This topic links strongly to one of FiLiA's campaigns, Making Policy Work for Women, which supports women to use the Equality Act – particularly the Public Sector Equality Duty and Equality Impact Assessments – to challenge policymakers to better consider the rights and needs of women in decision making, and which lobbies government and other policymakers to make robust EqIAs mandatory, meaningfully consult women and use sex-disaggregated data in policymaking.
