FiLiA's Feminist Friday – a precious women-only space.
This year, after hearing from women about what they want more of, we’ll include sessions that follow up on some of our other events, and always with space for women to take part in discussion. Each month will be different, and there will always be opportunities to connect with other women, to get involved in each other’s campaigns and to strengthen involvement in the Women’s Liberation Movement.
On 29th May, join FiLiA and Bronagh Andrew from TARA, (Trafficking Awareness Raising Alliance), for a vital discussion on the reality of trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation in Scotland. Since 2004, TARA has operated as a specialist Glasgow City Council resource, providing a lifeline to women who have been trafficked to Scotland.
Scotland’s sex trade is thriving financially at a devastating cost. Women are trafficked from across the globe to satisfy male demand, with women are treated as no more than commodities. This is systemic violence against women and it happens daily in our local communities.
It is time to expose the scale of this abuse and the male behaviour driving this industry. Together, we must call time on the sex trade and fight for a Scotland where no woman is for sale.
