Join a FiLiA Women’s Assembly women-only online session to discuss a new consultation on surrogacy law reform.
The Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (POST) is an independent service that provides Parliament with advice on complex scientific and social science related issues. POST has announced a new consultation on surrogacy law reform. This follows the 2019 public consultation from the Law Commissions of England and Wales and Scotland, where changes to the current law on surrogacy were proposed.
Many women have raised concerns with FiLiA around plans for surrogacy law reform and this session aims to give women the opportunity to influence policy makers.
This is a link to the UN Report from the Special Rapporteur for Violence Against Women and Girls on surrogacy, published in August this year.
This FiLiA Women’s Assembly online session will involve a discussion around the key questions asked in the POST consultation and women will have the opportunity to both contribute to FiLiA’s response and support to complete their own response to the consultation.
